    SRAVANANANDA SPEECH AND HEARING CENTER was started in the year 2000 for the purpose of audio logical testing and for the distribution of individual hearing aids to the hearing impaired. With the assistance of AYJNIHH SRC, Secunderabad.

    An ear mould making unit was also established. This unit takes care of the repairs of individual hearing aids of our children as well as outside persons.

  • Swayamkrishi Vocational Rehabilation Center:

    Current Funding: REHASWISS, a Swiss funding agency is supporting this project. (Project maintenance)

    Swayamkrishi Vocational Rehabilitation Center, financed by REHASWISS is another milestone in the history of our institution. This project is mainly designed for the physically challenged children in learning courses such as Garment and dress designing/stiching, Book binding, Screen Printing, Computer education, Desktop Publishing etc,

    This will help the physically challenged to start small units with very less investements and stand on their own.

    These trainings are offerred from 6th standard and by the time they complete 10th class, they would be fully equipped with training in some of the vocational course in which they are interested in.

    Lot of Government departments, and agencies are supporting these unit by providing some works such as book binding, Desktop publishing, ad’ designing etc., The amount that was earned in these means will be spend on getting more equipment and training materilas.

    Infact, these units are now managed by our fully qualified students.

  • CARE - A speech theraphy project:

    CARE [Computer Aided Rehabilitation Education] is a unit which is established for the Deaf students with the support of Inner Wheel Club of Vizianagaram.

    We use a specially designed software called VAGMI, for speech therapy. This software will be upgraded periodically to improve its efficiency.

    All the classrooms are equipped with Group hearing systems and Loop induction systems. These will give maximum hearing capacity to the children.

    Lessons are taught with the help of overhead projectors and flash cards. Every effort is made to provide maximum visual equipment so that these the deaf children could get maximum benefit from the visuals.

  • Vikas - The school for the mentally challenged:

    Start date: 2nd October 1994

    Initial strength: 16

    Current strength: 62

    Current Funding: REHASWISS, a Swiss funding agency is supporting this project. The SMRPRC School for the deaf is having grant in aid from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

    On 2nd October 1994, we took another step by establishing “Vikas”, an institution for the mentally retarded children with 16 children. It has been expanded to a strength of 62 now.

    This Institution follows the syllabus prescribed by the National Institute of Mentally handicapped, Secunderabad, India.

    Functional skills are imparted under four streams:

    • 1. Pre primary
    • 2. Primary
    • 3. Secondary
    • 4. Pre vocational.

    The staff of the school consists of one qualified head master, one specially trained teacher, four teachers specially trained under Bridge course, part-time physical instructor, one part time dance teacher.

    The activities of the school begin in the month of June and ends in April. For every target group, performance and achievement is measured as per norms prescribed by the NIMH, and the progress feedback will be given by the teachers and the parents on certain evaluation parameters. The evaluation will be done more or less on a scientific basis. This will enable us to understand their level of improvement and come up with new activities.

  • S.M.R.P.R.C. School for the Deaf:

    Start date: 6th Aug 1984

    Current strength: 200+

    The spirit behind this is a Strong belief that the deaf are not dumb. If proper intervention is provided at the right time, they can become normal individuals like any others. The School is Recognised by Government of Andhra Pradesh.

    The School building was donated by Sri Mahajan Perla Satteyya Chetty, a renowned philanthropist of Vizianagaram.

    The class rooms are fully equipped with Group Hearing Aid and Loop Induction Systems and also with LCD projector. The school is manned by specially trained teachers including one Speech Therapist.

    The teacher-Pupil ratio is strictly maintained at 1:8 Individual Speech Therapy is imparted with the help of Speech Trainers and also with the help of modern software system “Vaghmi” on Computer.

    The school has good Library. Lab, Teaching and Sports equipment. Funds received from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi.
